Jail Facility Overview in Guilford County

Guilford County has three detention centers. This includes two adult facilities, the Greensboro Detention Center and the High Point Detention Center, and one juvenile detention center. The Greensboro Detention Center, also known as the Greensboro Jail Central, is the largest, with a rated capacity of 1,032, holding an average daily population of 690. It primarily houses pre-trial detainees but also holds a small portion of sentenced inmates, federal inmates, and inmates awaiting transfer to other jurisdictions.

Meanwhile, the High Point Detention Center is the smallest adult detention center in Guilford County, holding adult men and women sentenced inmates, including federal inmates and inmates awaiting transfers to other jurisdictions. It has a rated capacity of 274.

The Juvenile Detention Center, on the other hand, has a 44 bed capacity and holds juveniles aged 10 to 18 who are awaiting court action or transfers to other facilities. The facility houses approximately 1,200 juveniles every year.

How to Send Money to an Inmate in Guilford County Detention Centers

Money may be deposited into an inmate’s account using the IC Team 3 Kiosk located in the lobby of the Greensboro and High Point Detention Centers. The kiosk accepts cash, cashier’s checks, debit cards, or money orders. Cash deposits are limited to $300 max per "rolling" week. Acceptable debit cards, either VISA or MasterCard, are those attached to open bank accounts.

Also, money can be sent to an inmate’s account online via the IC Team 3 website or via mail. However, the detention centers only accept certified/cashier’s checks or money orders by mail for deposit into an inmate’s account.

Inmate Search by Jail Facility

Guilford County Visitation Rules and Schedules

The general visitation schedule (in-person and remote) for the Greensboro Detention Center is Tuesday through Friday, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. For the High Point Detention Center, it is Tuesday through Friday, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. and 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.

The people who can visit an inmate in these facilities include friends, family, and attorneys. Listed below are some of the visitation rules both inmates and visitors must adhere to. Note that most of these may not apply to attorneys.

  • All visitors must be registered in advance before scheduling a visit, in person at either facility or online.
  • After registration, a visitor must wait 24 hours before scheduling a visit-and all subsequent visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance.
  • Visitors may only visit remotely up to two (2) times a day for 20 minutes each.
  • In-person visitation is limited to two (2) times per week (at non-consecutive times for 20 minutes each).
  • In-person visitors must sign up at least 20 minutes before the visitation closing time to be allowed to visit.
  • All visitors must be dressed appropriately.
