Guilford County, North Carolina Inmate Search
An inmate search refers to the process of querying or looking up official jail rosters to see who is currently in custody and information related to the incarceration. In Guilford County, an inmate search allows individuals to look up who is currently in custody in any of the county’s detention centers. The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office operates and manages the two adult detention centers in Guilford County. As a result, the sheriff’s office provides and oversees the online public-facing catalog that individuals can use to check who’s currently in custody in Guilford County.
In Guilford County, city law enforcement agencies, such as the Greensboro Police Department (GPD) and the High Point Police Department (HPPD), process their detainees into the county detention centers. As a result, city police departments do not maintain an independent jail roster. However, city PDs maintain independent records of the arrests they make.
The type of information a Guilford County inmate search will yield includes the detainee/inmate’s name, their age and gender, the date of the arrest, the booking agency, the incarceration facility, the charges, the total bond amount, and a photo of the inmate.
How to Find an Inmate in Guilford County Jail
To find inmates in Guilford County, use the Inmate Inquiry tool on the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office Police-to-Citizen (P2C) Portal. The tool is an online catalog/roster of individuals currently in detention in the county. Users can search the catalog or scroll through it to see who’s currently in custody. It may be sorted by arrest date (newest or oldest), booking agency, charge, or the first letter of the inmate’s last name.
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for the two adult detention centers and the inmates housed therein. As such, the sheriff’s office may handle inquiries about inmates. Alternatively, contact the detention centers in person, by phone, or by fax to check who is currently in their custody.
